About

The CQI

The Chartered Quality Institute is the chartered body for quality management professionals. Established in 1919, we gained a Royal Charter in 2006 and became the CQI shortly afterwards.

The CQI exists to help make business better. We promote the quality management approach, based on planning, measurement and improvement, to deliver satisfaction, profitability, innovation and more.

The CQI CEO

Simon Feary is the main author of the blog as the figurehead for the CQI. He welcomes contributions written by members of the quality profession from all industry backgrounds.

Simon is a chartered biologist and first trained as a biological scientist. His initial career was in pathology and then drug development safety testing within pharmaceuticals. From that profession he gained a practical appreciation of the value to organisations of effective quality management.

Following completion of an MBA in 1994, he moved to become head of IRCA. In 2008, he moved to his current position of CQI CEO, spearheading its dramatic five-year plan for promoting quality.

His background and interests are both business and quality, two attributes very relevant to managing the CQI. He is also chair of the International Personnel Certification Association and is a contributor to various International Accreditation Forum and International Organisation for Standardisation committees and working groups charged with developing standards, guidance and best practice.
